Overview

Ten years after residing in that place, even if only briefly, the filmmaker revisits the now-ruined site to explore the enduring significance it holds for the city. Engaging in conversations with his own memories, a photographer who documented patients at the facility, as well as his son, Vino Carvalho seeks to reconstruct the social imaginary that once enveloped – and still surrounds – the Bom Retiro Psychiatric Hospital.
