The culinary expert visits six key destinations on his tour - he goes on safari in Amakhala, visits Cape Town, Augrabies Falls in the Kalahari Desert, the Whale Coast, Soweto in Johannesburg and the Garden Province - aiming to get a taste of the real South Africa.

Safari in Amakhala

Jan 12, 2021Gregg visits the mother city - Cape Town - where he heads up to the highest point of the city, Table Mountain, and tastes Cape Malay cuisine in picturesque Bo Kaap. In the lush green valleys of the wine lands of the Western Cape, he samples the local wine and an authentic South African dish - bobotie.

Augrabies Falls
Jan 19, 2021Gregg flies into Upington the gateway to the Kalahari and follows the Orange River to the spectacular Augrabies Falls. Paddling down river, Gregg overnights at Khamkhirri Lodge and has a traditional Afrikaans braai (or barbecue). He then heads into the heart of the desert where he faces a tough taste challenge and is surprised by a secret spring.

Whale Coast
Jan 26, 2021Gregg takes a 300-kilometre road trip along the stunning coast of the Western Cape heading for Gansbaai, otherwise known as Shark Town. He stops for lunch at the South African fish and chip shop, releases rehabilitated African Penguins back into the wild and meets his match on a boat trip through shark alley.

Soweto, Johannesburg
Feb 2, 2021The MasterChef presenter takes a tuk tuk ride to explore the colourful and energetic township of Soweto just outside Johannesburg, home of both Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. He dishes up lunch in a school canteen and learns the lively gum boot dance.

The Garden Province
Feb 9, 2021From Durban Gregg takes a helicopter ride up into the remote and beautiful Zulu Kingdom in the Garden Province. He flies above the iconic Rorke's Drift battle site and meets the ancestor of a Zulu warrior. For lunch he heads into the lush valleys for some home-cooked food in a traditional Zulu village.
