Once there, Nigel's mother, Cordelia, presses him to accept a tenured professorship at Oxford. The prospect of the family settling down upsets Eliza but thrills Debbie. Meanwhile, Eliza rushes to save some golden eagles from eating poisoned meat from a trapper.
