    A woman in her early twenties is found dead at a local playground. Hrafn, a wealthy businessman, is suspected of being involved in the murder as the woman was with him. Journalist Lára faces serious financial problems as well as a crumbling marriage, and when asked by Hrafn for her help to prove his innocence in exchange for a weighty sum it becomes a difficult offer to refuse.

    Unconfirmed gossip about Hrafn's behaviour and attitudes towards women do not help his case but no one is willing to come forward with concrete evidence or any accusations. A body washes up on shore close to Reykjavík Harbour. Could it somehow be linked?

    Lára meets a cousin at her father's 70th birthday party. He shares some sensitive information with her about a local motorcycle gang and their criminal activities which seem to be on the rise. Lára smells a scoop but she does not anticipate the extent to which this could jeopardise her family's safety.

    With Lára hot on the heels of the motorcycle gang, things take a sinister turn. Her family is threatened and the safety of her children is put at risk when a Danish 'slayer' at the top of the organization is sent to Iceland to get things straight.

    With money to spare and public turning against him Hrafn buys the newspaper Lára works at and subtly yields his influence to turn the tide back in his support. Not everyone is fooled by him but his charm and good looks soon overcome any doubts Lára and others harboured about his involvement in the murders of the two young women.
