Kasdullah, usually called Doel, is a young Betawi man who tries to maintain his family's noble values ​​amidst the progress of the times and the current conditions of the development of the city of Jakarta. At the request of his parents, Doel studied at a private college majoring in mechanical engineering. His father, Sabeni, was willing to sell land assets and even cancel plans to go on the hajj with his wife, Laila (Mak Nyak), in order to educate Doel as high as possible. Their hope is that Doel will not follow in his father's footsteps as an oplet driver. In this first season, Doel accidentally meets Sarah, a mixed Indonesian-Dutch girl, who without Doel's knowledge then uses him and his family as objects for her thesis research.
