Dec 30, 1997Mahmoud Pasha asks his sister Amina to move into his mansion after Shuhrat separates from her husband, Na'emat visits Omar in detention and warns him against attacking the king and his entourage in his articles. Mahmoud Pasha proposes to Monira.

Dec 31, 1997Shuhrat blames her mother for her previous failed marriages. Monira's mother admonishes her daughter for going to the Opera behind her back. When Mahmoud Pasha informs his children that he is going to marry Monira, Mohsen opposes the marriage and threatens to leave the house.

Jan 8, 1998Monira goes horseback riding behind Mahmoud's back. When she falls ill, Morad drives her home which angers Mahmoud. When Mahmoud learns of Mohsen's relationship with Nawal, he decides to wed him to Shukran but Mohsen refuses. Mahmoud falls ill so Mohsen is forced to agree to the marriage.
