Only 18 performers will make the cut and advance to the next round. Thus begins the mixing and matching, as the architects form three groups of six to compete in the next phase of the competition.

The architects are then faced with the arduous task of selecting the bottom two contestants who will perform “battle songs” before America, hoping to earn a majority of votes that will keep them in the competition.
